AP Direct is a free service for owners and managers of Lloyd's Register classed ships, providing secure access to a wealth of data about ships in your fleet. Here is an overview of some of its features.
Fleet summary For a high-level overview of your fleet, the Fleet Summary page uses a traffic light system to provide an immediate picture of the survey status for each Lloyds Register classed ship.
Survey planner The Survey Planner screen shows all the surveys due over a five-year period enabling you to plan ahead and schedule your vessel downtime at the most opportune moment. Then, once you have decided on the most convenient time and place for your surveys, you can book them online using an electronic order form. Our nearest office to your port of call will confirm attendance.
In preparation for the actual survey, you can download the master lists of items to be surveyed and any applicable checklists. You can review the records of previous surveys, memoranda items, and any outstanding conditions of class.
Single reference point AP Direct gives you immediate access to the historical information on your ships, removing the need to maintain local copies of survey reports and helping you comply with ISO quality and ISM requirements.
It is also possible to order customised reports of the classification status of an individual ship, group of ships or complete fleet, which can be sent to an email address of your choice vital when it is not practical to browse online.
How often is AP Direct updated? AP Direct is continuously updated. It uses the same databases that we use in Lloyd's Register for our survey recording.
We are giving you direct access to our live production databases.
At what point is the survey status updated? Once a survey has been carried out and the surveyor has returned to the office then the survey status can be updated. Dependent on their workload this can be within a few hours of finishing the survey to a target time of 48 hours.
Once the survey status has been updated, you will be able to see it immediately.
My survey status has been updated, but there is no survey report available. As stated above the survey status update is expected to be available within 48 hours of the survey being completed. The report follows later, as soon as it is available.
I have surveys due soon. Is there anything in AP Direct that helps me to prepare for these surveys? One of the features of AP Direct is the ability to download the up to date survey checklists that will be used by the Lloyd's Register surveyor to undertake their survey. These checklists can be sent to the ship to help them to prepare for the survey, potentially decreasing the downtime for the vessel.
What happens if a survey is either part held or postponed? Part held and postponed surveys are indicated as such, and the revised due date for the survey is also displayed.
Are continuous machinery surveys covered by AP Direct? Yes they are. The survey status of each of the masterlist items and their survey due dates are displayed. It is possible to filter out overdue items and also items due within the next 6 months to help you with your planning.
The survey status is showing that a survey is in progress at a given port but the ship has not arrived there yet. How can this be? This indicates that we have been asked to undertake a survey in a given port, and are preparing for the survey.
