AP CLASS is helping to redefine what is possible for offshore energy development.
With more than 150 floating oil and gas facilities in the AP CLASS-classed fleet, AP CLASS is the market leader in classification of offshore drilling and production units, which includes vessels used for floating LNG (FLNG).
AP CLASS has been integral to the evolution of gas development, with a long history working with floating gas concepts, classing the first offshore LPG storage facility in the mid-1970s, the first purpose-built LPG floating storage and offloading unit, delivered in 1997, and the first LPG FPSO in 2005. AP CLASS’ most recent award came from Malaysia’s National Oil Company, PETRONAS, which selected AP CLASS to class the newbuild PFLNG 2. The vessel is scheduled to see first gas production from the deepwater Rotan gas field offshore Sabah, Malaysia, in early 2018.
In addition to leading classification work, AP CLASS has been at the forefront of developing standards for both LPG and LNG floating offshore terminals and providing guidance to the offshore liquefied gas sector for new and novel concepts.
As offshore opportunities expand, the energy industry continues to place its trust in AP CLASS. Our team of engineers, technicians and maritime specialists are the people gas industry professionals want working on their side as they move into new energy frontiers.
